We Are SRDI: The Voice of Evidence, The Heart of the Community

We at Spectrum Research and Development Initiative (SRDI), are a movement of researchers, advocates, and community voices working to heal the Niger Delta.

Our role is clear: to document the truth, empower the people, and demand accountability. We make sure that the voices of villages by polluted rivers are heard in policy rooms in Abuja and beyond.

To generate credible research, foster collaboration, and promote policies that restore ecosystems, improve livelihoods, and safeguard health in the Niger Delta.

At SDRI, we leverage data-driven research, policy engagement, community empowerment, and innovative initiatives to address critical issues affecting ecosystems, public health, livelihoods, and climate resilience in Nigeria and beyond.

Our mandate goes beyond research alone—we translate evidence into action by shaping conversations, influencing public policy, and driving collective efforts toward environmental justice and inclusive growth. SDRI serves as a bridge between science, communities, industry stakeholders, and policymakers, ensuring that sustainable development goals are locally grounded and globally relevant.

Goals

  1. Policy Influence: Generate credible data, research, and policy briefs that guide government and private stakeholders in making informed decisions on environmental management, climate action, and sustainable development.

  2. Environmental Justice: Champion initiatives that safeguard vulnerable communities from the adverse impacts of pollution, environmental degradation, and climate change.

  3. Capacity Building: Strengthen institutions, communities, and individuals with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to engage in sustainable practices.

  4. Innovation for Growth: Promote green technologies, circular economy practices, and sustainable energy solutions that enhance both ecological health and economic progress.

  5. Knowledge Dissemination: Provide open-access reports, publications, and forums that foster collaboration across academia, civil society, private sector, and government.
